Introduction

You can use directories made available by a server in the corporate network or Internet on your Gigaset PRO device. The following formats are available.

  • Directory in LDAP format (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol)
  • Directory in XML format
  • Personal Directory in XML format

Prerequisite

  • The directories are available in the valid XML or LDAP format.
  • They are configured in the device.

If a password of the Net Directory service is requested by a provider it can be stored in the Gigaset device.
For using the Net Directory service the Gigaset device sets up a connection to the net directory server and uses the password for authentication.

Authentication mode:
 There are different possibilities to get credentials before a phone gets access to a private phone book. For example the credentials for public providers are hard coded in the software of the Gigaset phone.
If a private phonebook is used the credentials can be taken from the non volatile memory. Another possibility is to use the login data of the 1st SIP account or the assigned SIP send account.
It is recommended by Gigaset to use setting ‘4’.

Private network directory

This capability is used to activate the menu of the private directory feature. If a provider supports this feature the customer can write and store his own names and numbers at the providers’ server. 
There are different possibilities to get credentials before a phone gets access to a private phone book. For example the credentials for public providers are hard coded in the software of the Gigaset phone.
If a private phonebook is used the credentials can be taken from the non volatile memory. Another possibility is to use the login data of the 1st SIP account or the assigned SIP send account.

This is a single bit that switches on or off the automatic lookup feature. A number can be replaced by a name in different scenarios (e.g.: during incoming or outgoing calls or other situations).
If a number is not found in the local directory of the telephone, it can be automatically searched for this number and the corresponding name in the net directory.

 

Names or numbers can be searched in the white pages (public phonebook). If the service is activated the text in the mmi for the headline of the corresponding menu can be setup in this parameter.
So the name of the white pages directory can be set by the administrator.
