The Maxwell 3 and 4 have both an USB connector that can be used to import/export the Local phonebook.



  • The USB plug needs to be formatted with file system FAT32!
  • Do not use pendrive or USB hubs, only directly plugged USb plugs are recognized!
  1. Plug the USB plug into Maxwell's USB port, use only FAT32 filesystem 
  2. If the USB plug has been identified, you will see an USB icon on the Maxwell display in the upper right corner
  3. Login on Web-UI as administrator
  4. Go to: Settings - DeskPhone - LocalPhonebook
  5. Use "Import/Export Phonebook from USB flash drive" → Export button
  6. Confirm the export with "Yes"
  7. Remove USB plug

  1. Plug the USB plug into your PC and open the Explorer
  2. Open the folder "maxwell_export"
  3. Use an Editor tool (e.g. Notepad++) to open the "localDirectory.xml" file
  4. You can edit the existing entries or add new entries up to 500.
  5. Save the file with the same filename "localDirectory.xml"


The import is done using the folder "maxwell_import", you need to create this folder on your USB drive and copy the file "localDirectory.xml" into this folder.
