Description

Preferred or default editing mode will be used for searching directory until user change the edit mode.

Switching the edit mode to a different mode (than within this setting) is just temporarily for the active screen, it will not alter the setting. If the setting needs to be changed, it must changed explicitly (by changing the setting itself, not simply by switching the mode in a edit screen)
