Introduction

Often there are questions about the Capacity of the system and the number of simultaneous calls that are possible. This all depends on the codecs used and if calls are done via SIP, ISDN or analogue.

The Hybird 120 GE basicly is not doing anything with transcoding and using DSP channels if the devices/SIP trunks are using the same codec. The limitation of the number of simultaneous calls are the usage of the DSP channels.

Important

Advised is to create for every system a codec profile, by default all codecs are allowed. By creating a codec profile the system will only use that codec and there is then no need for transcoding. This will ensure the maximum capacity can be used.

The codec G.711 aLaw is the most used codec.
