In this directory the names and numbers that are written by the user of the Gigaset device are stored.
To avoid that unauthorized people have access to this names a password (see chapter ‘Password’) is need.
The Gigaset device can use the username and password of the first SIP account to get access to the private pages.

Autolookup Capability<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.astNetdirProvider[1].bitfldCap.bAutolookupCap" class="symb_item" value="0x0"/>

This is a single bit that switches on or off the automatic lookup feature. A number can be replaced by a name in different scenarios (e.g.: during incoming or outgoing calls or other situations).
If a number is not found in the local directory of the telephone, it can be automatically searched for this number and the corresponding name in the net directory.

Available Net directories<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.aucAvailableNetdirs[%]" class="symb_item" value="0x14,0x15"/>

All available net directory providers that can be used by the phone are setup in this parameter. The List contains only numbers or abbreviations, no names.
The numbers can be set according to the table or according to the abbreviation list at the end of this chapter. All ID’s or abbreviations out of the list or only a part of them can be stored in this parameter.
The user can select via web interface of the phone which network provider is selected for the net phonebook service.
All providers listed here are visible in the web UI of the Gigaset device and the order of the ID’s is used as the order of providers in the web UI window.

0x14,0x15 = 20, 21

Activated Net directories<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.aucActivatedNetdirs[%]" class="symb_item" value="0x14,0x15"/>
This list contains all or only a part of the net phonebook provider given in the available Net Directory list.
The providers or provider ID’s in this parameter are a subset of the parameter. It contains the activated net directory provider visible in the WebUI.

Net Directory Provider Name<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.astNetdirProvider[1].aucProviderName[%]" class="symb_item" value='"Central phonebook"'/>
In this parameter the names of the providers are stored that support the Net Directory service.
The user of the Web interface or of the menu can find these names there and can select another provider for the service if he wants to use another database for the net directory service.

Encrypt Posts<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.astNetdirProvider[1].bitfldCap.bEncryptPosts" class="symb_item" value="0x0"/>
If this capability is set all posted names and numbers in a private phone book are encrypted. If it is not set the posted names and numbers are not encrypted.
Private Directory Nickname Capability<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.astNetdirProvider[1].bitfldCap.bPrivateDirectoryNicknameCap" class="symb_item" value="0x0"/>
This is a capability bit to activate the nick name field in the editor for the private phone bock. If the provider supports this feature the user needs an editor to write or change a nick name. (0=Editor field off, 1=Editor field on)
Reverse Search Capability<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.astNetdirProvider[1].bitfldCap.bReverseSearchCap" class="symb_item" value="0x0"/>
The Reverse search capability means that a phone number is send by the phone or the user to the net directory (e.g. automatically during an incoming call or manually by the user via search editor).
The net directory gives an answer which name belongs to the number. If the reverse search capability is activated an extra line in the editor is visible so that the customer can search a name that belongs to the number.

Send Mac Address<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.astNetdirProvider[1].bitfldCap.bSndMacAddress" class="symb_item" value="0x1"/>
In case this capability is activated a request to a net provider phone book is send containing additionally the MAC address of the Gigaset device. This is used as a security option.
Country code<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_XML_Netdirs.astNetdirProvider[1].aucCountryCode[%]" class="symb_item" value='""'/>

The Net Directory service is supported by different providers in different countries. A list of different provider is implemented in the Gigaset devices.
The list can be found at the end of this chapter. In this parameter an abbreviation of a country can be setup.
If it is setup, this abbreviation is add in front of the net directory name in the MMI. It can consist of a maximum of 3 characters.

Mostly, this is empty.

High Priority for the Net Directory Access<SYMB_ITEM ID="BS_LM_AppCfg.bit.bHasHighPrioNetDirAccess" class="symb_item" value="0x1"/>
If this feature is enabled: short press on phonebook key opens the online directory list. Long press opens the local Directory list.
To be enabled only if the operator provides a private network based phonebook, which should replace the local phonebook.
The handset has also to support this feature. If not supported by a handset and the feature is enabled, the feature will not work.
If it is disabled: short press on the phonebook key opens the local directory list. A long press opens the online directory list.

N510 info

The N510 will show 16 phonebook entries, this is hardcoded in the device and can not be changed
Also the "limit=2048" parameter is dependent on "count=16" (it is a multiple of the max. size of one entry). The N510 could handle for sure more than 16 entries, but at some point the system could run out of memory.

So it is managed on the server. Example:
The device sends request first request with "&first=1&count=16":
http://192.168.0.50/gigaset-prov/netdir/?command=get_list&type=yp&wh=A%2a&ct=%2a&st=%2a&ln=%2a&cat=%2a&nr=%2a&hm=%2a&mb=%2a&fx=%2a&sip=%2a&zc=%2a&in=%2a&bp=%2a&lang=3&first=1&count=16&mac=7C2F80143EEA&reqsrc=user&limit=2048
The server responds with the first 16 entries and has reported that there are a total="396" entries.
Now, the base station takes control and demands, depending on user behavior, 16 additional entries.
This could be continued until the total number of 396 entries is reached. The attached trace contains just 113 entries ("first=97&count=16")
